The Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) is North America's largest risk management association dedicated solely to the practice of risk management in the public sector. Along with national PRIMA, the Minnesota chapter provides practical education and training to Minnesota cities, counties, and school districts on current risk management and safety issues.
The purpose of MN PRIMA is to:

- Strengthen the quality of risk management through continuing education;
- Be an educational and research organization for the benefit of governments, governmental entities, political subdivisions thereof, schools, and other special district units;
- Provide members the opportunity to exchange ideas and to consult with one another and to meet with persons in or associated with public risk management, and to supply members with information concerning their organization, the Public Risk Management Association; and
- Act in any other manner that will further the best interest of governments, governmental entities, political subdivisions, schools and other special districts in their risk management activities.
